If you utilize your checking or savings account at another financial institution to pay your loan at FOCUS, there is no fee for this service! However, if you utilize your debit card from another financial institution, there is a small $9.95 convenience fee applied to each loan payment via MessagePay.

1. Verify Your Account

For first time users, you will need to visit our Message Pay payment portal and authenticate your ccount with your Account Number and Date of Birth.

Store this information in a secure place as you will need this pin number to verify future payments.

3. Add Your Preferred Payment

Select “Methods” on the top menu. From this screen you can add new cards or bank accounts to pay from.


You can add multiple methods and select which method you would like to be your “default” payment method.

4. Make a Payment

To make your payment in full, select the blue “Make Payment Now” button. 


To edit your payment amount, you can touch the pencil icon to the right of the amount.


You can also select a different payment method by touching the pencil icon to the right of the select method.


Upon selecting “Make Payment Now,” a confirmation screen is shown to confirm that you want to make the payment with the selected method.

Life can get hectic, and it’s easy for loan payments to slip through the cracks.


When you verify your account for the first time you will have to setup the following:


4 digit pin: once you have entered your account number and date of birth, it will prompt you to create a 4 digit pin. Store this information in a secure place as you will need this pin number to verify future payments.

Preferred method of payment: to make a payment you will have to add your preferred form of payment in the portal. You can do this by selecting ADD NEW DEBIT CARD or ADD NEW BANK ACCOUNT which will prompt a secure website for you to input your information. If done correctly, there will be a message stating ‘Payment Method Success’ and you will be redirected to the payment portal.

Once your account has been successfully verified, you will be directed to the payment portal where you’ll be able to see all of your loans and will also be able to select your preferred payment method.

The fee for ACH transactions (taken directly from a checking account) is $0. However, the fee for a debit card transaction is $9.95.

Can I make a payment on my loans through my online and mobile banking account?
Using your smartphone, tablet or desktop and select ‘Make a Payment’ from the menu bar located just below the rotating banners. This will take you to the payment portal where you will have to verify your account.


What kind of fees will I be charged?
Making a loan payment from another financial institution won’t cost you anything, if you choose to pay from a debit card, there is a $9.95 fee. If your loan payment is returned by your other financial institution, we do charge a returned payment fee.


If I opt out of receiving text messages will I still be able to pay my loans online?
Yes, you will have to access the payment portal through our website or online and mobile banking. However, you will not receive any text notifications regarding payment reminders and will not be able to make a payment via text message.
